The truth about feedback is that it is a powerful gift. Whether we are a senior leader or an emerging leader, feedback provides us with critical information to become a stronger leader. Without feedback we would have a harder time fine tuning our leadership strategy.

Are we sometimes fearful of hearing feedback from certain people? Sure. But maybe instead of looking at those comments and insights as personal attacks, we can see them as steps to lead more effectively. We can look at the behaviors we can adjust and actions we can take to transform our leadership to a higher level.
Here are six reasons
The New Year is here and that means it is time for leaders to cross over to a new beginning with a hop in their step. The evaluation of the good, the bad and the ugly of the past year is now behind us and the worst thing we can do is keep our feet stuck in “what was”. Shake it off and look straight ahead to 2018. Even if we had our best year ever we need to look at the New Year with fresh eyes and scope.

For many years organizations have been focusing on ways to increase employee and team member engagement. Study after study pinpoints steps to help our companies cultivate deeper team engagement. According to a recent Gallop poll, only 15% of employees globally are engaged. Perhaps, attempting to improve team engagement isn’t what we should be concentrating on, but rather exploring and developing strategies to elevate the team experience. After all, leaders have been turning over backwards to fuel their customer experience. Maybe it is finally time to move from team engagement to team experience.

Success is identifying what we are fascinated with and then applying our gifts and strengths to make it happen. I believe that if we work hard at something and enjoy the process that is success. I don’t believe in labels or positions or titles. Success can be about growing in a career or a personal feat or helping someone reach their north star. The key is taking action and feeling empowered to propel ourselves in a particular direction.
